BOFH (short for Bastard Operator From Hell) refers to a fictional “rogue” system administrator in I.T. literature who is rude, takes his anger out on people who “bother” him with computer help questions, uses his knolwledge against enemies, and manipulates his employer(s).

The term is also sometimes used to refer to real-life system administrators who display the same characteristics as the fictional character.
